Welcome to East Wawanosh Public School
East Wawanosh Public School is an elementary school that provides programming for students from junior kindergarten to grade eight for the students from the town of Belgrave and the townships of Morris and East Wawanosh. We presently have 194 students at our school. Located in a beautiful country setting, our outdoor facilities include a creative playground, soccer fields, ball diamonds and basketball courts. To enhance our science and environmental studies curriculum, we also have a perennial garden, a pond and earth friendly gardens where students grow produce every year.
Our school Mission Statement is : East Wawanosh Public School
"A Community Inspiring Lifelong Learners"
At East Wawanosh, we envision a school where:
- there is a sense of respect and responsibility displayed towards self and others
- the environment is a safe, secure and inviting place for students and staff, which promotes student learning
- curriculum and instruction is designed to meet the individual learning styles of students
- staff, students and parents work together to achieve high expectations for our students (academic, physical, social and moral development)
- students will be provided with skills to demonstrate reading, writing, thinking, computing, speaking and listening to the best of their ability
East Wawanosh is fortunate to have a hard-working School Council and Volunteer Group who contribute to our school through their ongoing support to program, educational excursions and fundraising activities. Our student body appreciates their support and benefits from their ongoing time and commitment.
Our students have the benefit of an excellent staff who, in addition to setting high academic standards for our students, also provide a number of extra-curricular sports and clubs. We have an active Student Council who provide opportunities for students as well. Students are encouraged to become involved in all aspects of school life at East Wawanosh. They are encouraged to assume responsibility for their decisions, actions and learning. At our school, we believe in helping each student to develop their full potential; academically, socially and emotionally. We believe that this can only happen when parents, students, staff and community all work together in an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust. We value input from parents and the community to help us provide the best education for our students.
